Today all roads of Australia Start in Lancelin in the home of watersports. The desert of pure white sand hills just on the edge of town is unique and provides a vast playground for all to enjoy, particularly those who have the added benefit of an off road vehicle. Lancelin Island provides a spectacular view as the sun drops out of sight over the Indian Ocean, the place to be then is on the jetty with many recreational fishermen and their families. Lancelin beaches are a noted spot for surfers, divers and snorkellers who have shared the environment with dolphins and seals for many years. Lancelin is also the hub of the rock lobster industry, which is one of Western Australia's major export earners. Millions of dollars worth of lobsters are harvested from the ocean in and around the natural harbour created by reefs that give shelter to the 120 odd fishing boats that work out of Lancelin in any one season. Lancelin has practically everything that a visitor could desire. Sailboard, motorbike and sandboard hire. an attractive 18 hole golf course, bowling greens and many other sports are catered for.
